C. Larocque West Coast Baby Cuff
A beautiful gift for the expecting mother. This baby cuff has deep engraving and with traditional Haida etching and Navajo motifs. A piece to treasure a will be coveted forever, it's a beautiful reminder of those precious early years.
By doing West-Coast engraving and Navajo style bezel work Corey has achieved this, whilst maintaining his tradition and unique style. We gave Corey a collection of Turquoise Kingdom's high grade stones that we cut in our lapidary studio and this is the result. Each ring is unique and has different meaning, all of which are truly a work of art.
My name is Corey Larocque and I am of Haida, Gitsan, and Cree descent. I am a carver of totem poles, masks, rattles and bowls, working in cedar, alder and yew, and metal smith jeweller of silver, copper, gold, stone, marine ivory and stone. I connect my exploration of traditional forms with modern elements of surrealism and pop art, in paintings and innovative pieces. Recent projects include a 32 ft totem memorial pole in honour of Alert Bay matriarch Duta encompassing Dzunkawa, Suitsuil, Sun Figure and Whale, along with a 22 character set of Kwakla masks, the Spirits of the Forest World, created in an ongoing collaboration with Beau Dick, Wayne Alfred, and Marcus Alfred.
